DESCRIPTION:You don’t get a second chance at your first in-brief with a resource or team. \nWhen a resource or team shows up on your unit\, that first interaction sets the tone—for safety\, coordination\, and trust. The difference between a rushed\, unclear in-brief and one that’s structured and engaging can shape how effectively that team performs from the start. \n“Welcome to the Incident: Conducting In-Briefs that Work” is a learning experience (LX) designed to get you ready for the upcoming fire season with practical skills you can use immediately. \nIn this LX\, you’ll learn how to: \nDeliver a clear\, concise and structured in-briefing to a team or resource group\nPrepare a complete in-briefing packet for various types of in-briefs\nEvaluate briefing effectiveness by gathering feedback and identifying improvements\nWho should take this LX? \nThis LX is for current and aspiring Fire Managers working for a wildland fire management agency that in-briefs teams or additional resources on their unit. \nWhat have students who completed the LX said? \n“The opportunity to examine my home units in-briefing documents and compare it with those of other folks was extremely helpful.”\n“Watching myself give an in-brief was very helpful. It showed me aspect that I need to improve on.”\n“I really appreciate the opportunity to listen to real folks with real world examples and the opportunity to interact and ask questions.”\nWhen is the LX being offered? \nThis is a self-paced LX. Most students complete all the required activities in about four hours. You choose the days and times when you complete the activities and assignments during the offering window. There is also an optional live session with subject matter experts.
