DESCRIPTION:It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dan Andrew Ballard\, a retired Fire Technology instructor at College of the Siskiyous and a beloved member of our Career Technical Education (CTE) Division. Dan passed away on July 31\, 2025\, leaving behind a legacy defined by service\, mentorship\, and an unwavering dedication to shaping future firefighters. \nDan had a long and honorable career as a Captain with the U.S. Forest Service. He brought the depth of that real-world experience into the classroom and training grounds\, where he inspired countless students to lead with courage\, integrity\, and compassion. \nDan dedicated over 20 years of exemplary service to the College of the Siskiyous Fire Technology Program. His deep expertise and unwavering commitment led him to serve in multiple key roles\, including Fire Director\, Program Coordinator\, Adjunct Instructor\, and for many years as the Physical Training Instructor. \nDan wasn’t just an instructor — he was a mentor in the truest sense. He met every student where they were\, believed in their potential\, and pushed them to rise to the demands of the profession. His steady presence\, calm leadership\, and trademark sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to learn from him or teach beside him. Dan’s impact continues through the lives of the students he mentored\, the careers he influenced\, and the example he set for all of us.
