DESCRIPTION:It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dan Andrew Ballard\, a retired Fire Technology instructor at College of the Siskiyous and a beloved member of our Career Technical Education (CTE) Division. Dan passed away on July 31\, 2025\, leaving behind a legacy defined by service\, mentorship\, and an unwavering dedication to shaping future firefighters. \nDan had a long and honorable career as a Captain with the U.S. Forest Service. He brought the depth of that real-world experience into the classroom and training grounds\, where he inspired countless students to lead with courage\, integrity\, and compassion. \nDan dedicated over 20 years of exemplary service to the College of the Siskiyous Fire Technology Program. His deep expertise and unwavering commitment led him to serve in multiple key roles\, including Fire Director\, Program Coordinator\, Adjunct Instructor\, and for many years as the Physical Training Instructor. \nDan wasn’t just an instructor — he was a mentor in the truest sense. He met every student where they were\, believed in their potential\, and pushed them to rise to the demands of the profession. His steady presence\, calm leadership\, and trademark sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to learn from him or teach beside him. Dan’s impact continues through the lives of the students he mentored\, the careers he influenced\, and the example he set for all of us. SUMMARY:Techniques of Evaluation Class
DESCRIPTION:This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the intermediate level professional instructor to perform his or her duties safely\, effectively\, and competently. The curriculum is based on the 2012 edition of NFPA 1041 Standard for Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications and the 2012 edition of NFPA 1403 Standard on Live Fire Training Evolutions. At the end of this course\, candidates for Instructor II certification will be able to develop lesson plans and evaluation instruments\, teach and deliver instruction\, and evaluate and coach other instructors. The Instructor II will also be able to analyze resources and formulate a program budget.
